This weekend, Inter Milan take on Juventus in Serie A. They meet in the second Derby d’Italia of the season.

The Derby d’Italia is always one of the showpiece occasions of Italian football.

And the rivalry between Inter and Juventus is one of the most bitter and longstanding in Serie A.

The last time that the two teams met it ended in a wild 4-4 draw. This was certainly a rarity in a fixture that has a reputation for producing tight and cagey outings.

That 4-4 draw was a result that felt better for the Bianconeri than the Nerazzurri, however.

Partly because of the fact that Inter have overall looked like the stronger side this season of the pair. Therefore they were arguably the favourites on paper.

And then, there is the fact that Inter had been 4-2 up in the second half of the match. They will hardly have been thrilled to surrender a two-goal lead. Least of all to Juventus.

Inter Legend Beppe Bergomi: “Matches Vs Juventus Stressful”

Former Inter captain Beppe Bergomi admitted that the Derby d’Italia is a fixture which, “the older you get, the more stressful it becomes.”

Meanwhile, Bergomi brushed off the suggestion that he might secretly be an AC Milan or Juventus supporter from some internet trolls.

“Ambrosini, Costacurta, and other players have the same problem,” said the former Inter captain.

“It’s just keyboard warriors.”

“But you learn to get over it,” Bergomi said.

“What matters is the feedback you get from good people and from your club,” said the former defender, who also won the 1982 World Cup with Italy.

“Recognizing your loyalty in behaviour, objectivity, and professionalism.”
