Inter Milan, Juventus, and Aston Villa are all in the running to sign Lille striker Jonathan David on a free transfer next summer.

This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri have already established contact with the Canadian international’s representatives.

Striker David remained at Lille this summer, despite some transfer links away.

Atletico Madrid had considered a move for the 24-year-old. However, they instead invested in the likes of Aleksander Sorloth and Julian Alvarez.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa also considered bringing David to the Premier League.

Then, in Serie A, there were a few teams who were monitoring David.

One was Inter. The Nerazzurri had considered the Canadian as a prospective replacement if they were to receive an offer for Marcus Thuram that they considered impossible to turn down.

Then, Napoli and AC Milan also considered David as a target, had they missed out on their priority targets Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata respectively.

Inter, Juventus & Aston Villa Also In The Running To Sign Jonathan David

Despite the interest, David remained at Lille. His contract with the Ligue 1 club only runs until the end of next June.

It therefore looks clear that David will leave Lille on a free transfer next summer.

And Inter have already made their interest in signing the Canadian clear.

FCIN report that Inter do not just see David as a replacement in the event that they sell a striker for a big fee next summer.

On the contrary, the outlet anticipate, Inter could move to sign the Canadian as a replacement for the outgoing Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa.

Such a deal would be within reach for the Nerazzurri financially, given that it would be a free transfer.

Even with the cost of agent commissions and the lack of the Growth Decree on David’s wages, the total investment of wages of €3.5-4 million net per season would be reasonable for Inter.

And Nerazzurri owners Oaktree Capital would not be opposed to signing David. The Canadian would be 25 next summer – very much fitting with the age profile that the owners are seeking.

However, Inter would not be without competition for David’s signature.

FCIN report that Premier League side Villa are continuing to monitor the 24-year-old.

And then, Juventus could rival Inter within Serie A. The Bianconeri’s interest in David would likely be contingent on the future of striker Dusan Vlahovic.
