Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi still wants a transfer to Roma, but a start against Lecce tomorrow would send a big message.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

At this point, Frattesi’s situation is right out in the open.

The Italian international wants to leave Inter. He’s unhappy with his playing time and wants to join Roma, where he expects to start regularly.

For their part, the Giallorossi are very keen to sign Davide Frattesi.

However, Inter are hardly in a rush to sell Frattesi during the January transfer window.

The Nerazzurri would reportedly demand a fee of €45 million for Frattesi.

Roma have weighed up a player-plus-cash offer. Bryan Cristante could bolster Inter’s midfield, whilst Nicola Zalewski could be a replacement if Tajon Buchanan leaves.

In the meantime, Frattesi is still an Inter player.

The 25-year-old has not started a Serie A match in three months.

However, Frattesi is set to get his chance tomorrow.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is ready to make some changes to the lineup against Lecce tomorrow.

Among these, the coach will give Frattesi the nod over Nicolo Barella in midfield.

That certainly would seem to send a clear message about Frattesi’s future. At least for the rest of this season.

There is no chance that Inter would listen to offers for Frattesi before they wrap up their Champions League “league phase” campaign against Monaco next Wednesday.

After that, Roma could make one last big push. And Frattesi himself remains keen as ever on the move.

But in the meantime, the former Sassuolo midfielder will have a job to do at Inter.
