The 24-year-old reacted to yesterday’s Nations League win over France speaking to Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

Italy did not have the Euros that they had hoped to this summer. That is certainly putting it mildly.

The Azzurri came into the tournament in Germany as the reigning champions.

However, Italy’s title defense was nothing short of a disaster.

In the group stage, the Azzurri managed to scrape by, with a last-minute equalizer over Croatia allowing them to finish second in the group.

However, the warning signs had been there in a 1-0 loss to Spain. Truthfully, the scoreline did not reflect the extent to which Italy had been outplayed.

And then, in the round of sixteen, Italy put in a dismal performance as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Switzerland.

Yesterday, on the other hand, Italy put in a display that was far more convincing.

The Azzurri secured a 3-1 victory over France in their first Nations League match of the international break.

“I’m happy,” said midfielder Frattesi after the match. The 24-year-old Inter player got on the scoresheet.

“It always feels particularly special to help the team.”

“This evening has to be a new beginning for us,” Frattesi continued.

“In my view we have to started again mentally,” he went on. “At the Euros there was a lot of saying ‘It was a lot of pressure. We were burned out.'”

“But now we’re going in the right direction,” the former Sassuolo midfielder argued.

“And then we also can’t forget about the defeats,” he added. “Those are what allow you to grow.”

“Thanks also to the coach,” Frattesi added. “He’s given us the right spirit.”
