Inter Milan have identified Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi as an ideal replacement for current manager Simone Inzaghi, reports Corriere dello Sport.

Inzaghi is in the firing line following a lacklustre campaign in Serie A this season.

His job is on the line as it has been widely reported that he could leave the San Siro in the summer.

The report also adds that the only way Inzaghi can survive is to win a trophy this season, with Inter still in contention for the Champions League and Coppa Italia.

April will be a decisive month for the former Lazio manager. If the results don’t improve, the Nerazzurri will likely show him the exit door in the summer.

The odds are certainly against Inzaghi as Inter must overcome Benfica in the Champions League quarter-finals and Juventus in the semi-finals of Coppa Italia.

De Zerbi has emerged as a potential candidate for the managerial role, as Inter believe the former Sassuolo man is the perfect choice to lead the team.

The Italian boss first received limelight during his stint at Sassuolo, where he implemented an attractive style of football.

After a short spell at Shakhtar Donetsk, De Zerbi joined Brighton in September last year and has since made a remarkable impact.

Under De Zerbi, the Seagulls are going well in the league and have also progressed to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

It has led De Zerbi to receive wider recognition, and he is currently one of the hottest managers in Europe.

Fellow Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are keeping close tabs on the 43-year-old in their search for a replacement for Antonio Conte, who was recently sacked by the Lilywhites.

Another hurdle for Inter will be De Zerbi’s €13 million release clause with Brighton, which the Italian giants could struggle to afford due to their financial difficulties.

Bologna head coach Thiago Motta has also been heavily linked with a move to Inter.
