Inter Milan have marked Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman as their primary target in attack.

The Nigerian international won’t come cheap. Atalanta are demanding €50 million, and have rejected Inter’s opening bid of €40 million.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport report, Inter are ready to improve their offer.

The newspaper notes that the Nerazzurri wouldn’t balk at adding €2-3 million to their bid to try and inch towards an agreement with Atalanta.

The trigger for a decisive improvement in Inter’s offer will likely have to be some sales.

The Nerazzurri have already agreed a deal to sell Aleksandar Stankovic to Club Brugge for around €10 million.

Meanwhile, striker Mehdi Taremi could be headed to the Premier League. The likes of Fulham, Leeds United, and West Ham United are keen on the 33-year-old, who Inter want €8 million for.

Then, Inter are hoping to offload players like Kristjan Asllani, Sebastiano Esposito, and Tajon Buchanan this summer.

If Inter can carry out sales like this, they should have the liquidity on hand to negotiate a deal for Lookman.

Then, the Gazzetta dello Sport note, Inter can also make their move for their other main target this summer; Parma defender Giovanni Leoni.

Like Lookman, Leoni is not going to come cheap. Therefore, bringing in fees for a few fringe players would certainly give Inter some financial wiggle room to sign the teenage defender.
