Inter will be hoping that their continued heroics in the Champions League can be just the boost that they need to change their recent momentum in Serie A.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who suggest that what the Nerazzurri need now is for the change in atmosphere that’s come from reaching the semifinals of Europe’s top club competition to bring about a concrete shift in the team’s league performances.

Whilst Inter’s 3-3 draw against Benfica and the fact that they can look forward to a Champions League semifinal tie against AC Milan certainly have been a boost to morale, there will be a worry that so far, the confidence from these European exploits has never really transferred to the team’s domestic form.

Instead, the Nerazzurri have found themselves on the end of bitterly disappointing results like losses to Bologna, Juventus, and Monza in the immediate aftermath of some of their greatest triumphs in the Champions League.

This plainly won’t do, and has been a big factor at the heart of Inter’s extremely erratic form in Serie A.

This is a problem for precisely the reason that the Nerazzurri now find themselves with absolutely no margin for error in their chase of a top four spot in the table, and with it a guaranteed place in the Champions League next season.

Inter are out of the top four, and the remaining eight matches will need to see them catch up with the likes of AC Milan, Roma, and Lazio, or else miss out on something that has been considered to be essentially a bare minimum objective for the campaign.

If the Nerazzurri are at their absolute best during the period, then there is every chance that they can capitalize on any slip-ups from the teams ahead of them.

Accordingly, what Inter need now is to finally bring some harmony to their form in Europe and in the league, the Corriere argues.
