Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram says that “the lights shine brighter” when playing in the Champions League.
Speaking to Magazine UEFA, via FCInterNews, the 27-year-old gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow evening’s European clash with Bayer Leverkusen.
Tomorrow evening, Inter are back in action in the Champions League.
The Nerazzurri have already played five matches in the competition. They drew with Manchester City before beating Red Star Belgrade, Young Boys, Arsenal, and RB Leipzig.
That has put Inter in a very strong position to qualify directly for the round of sixteen.
However, there is still a lot of work to do.
Tomorrow’s match pits Italian champions Inter against the reigning Bundesliga champions Leverkusen.
And the fact that Xabi Alonso’s team won the title without losing a single match last campaign is a testament to just how formidable an opponent they will be.
Then, Inter’s last two matches are against Sparta Prague and Monaco. These will certainly not be fixtures that the Nerazzurri underestimate.
Inter striker Marcus Thuram gave his thoughts on what playing in the Champions League means to him.
“In the Champions League it seems like the lights shine a bit brighter,” the Frenchman said.
“The pitch is more beautiful. The fans get even more excited.”
“Scoring on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening is always special,” Thuram admitted.
Meanwhile, Thuram also gave his thoughts on what it would mean to face his brother and Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram in a Champions League final.
“In a Champions League final or any other final, it would be impossible for me not to kid around with him,” admitted the Inter striker.
“I’d be looking for him. I can’t help it.”
“It’s something that goes beyond football,” said Nerazzurri striker Thuram of his relationship with his brother.
