Inter Milan are considering moves for Boca Juniors defender Nicolas Valentini and Lens defender Facundo Medina.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper identify the pair of Argentine defenders as possible defensive reinforcements for the Nerazzurri.
It is now looking very likely that Inter will sign a defender this summer.
And there is a particular profile that the Nerazzurri are ready to go after.
Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio bluntly acknowledged that at the moment the club’s strategy is to go after a left-sided central defender.
This would be so that there is a backup to Alessandro Bastoni in the squad.
That would have the knock-on effect of allowing Carlos Augusto – who frequently played on the left of the back three last season – to play exclusively at wingback, where Tajon Buchanan will be out for an extended period.
According to Tuttosport, there are a couple of Argentine players who Inter are considering as targets for the left side of the defense.
One of these is Boca Juniors defender Valentini.
The 23-year-old looks very likely to leave Boca this summer.
Valentini’s contract with the Argentine giants runs out at the end of December of this year. And he has made clear that he is not going to sign a new deal.
Therefore, this summer represents Boca’s final opportunity to cash in on Valentini.
Subsequently, according to Tuttosport, Inter consider the Argentine to be a possible option in defense, considering that he is a left-footed defender.
Meanwhile, another player who has shown that he can play on the left of a back three is Medina.
The 25-year-old has been a key player at Lens for a few seasons. He has played on the left of the Ligue 1 club’s back three.
According to Tuttosport, Inter view Medina as another prospective target on the left of their back three.
