Inter Milan’s directors have left the club headquarters as the takeover of the club by Oaktree Capital from Suning draws nearer.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. The broadcaster highlight one more clear sign that a change of ownership is on the cards for the Nerazzurri.

For the time being, Suning are still Inter owners.

However, the deadline for the Chinese company to repay their debt to Oaktree Capital in full is now at hand.

And according to Sky, there is still no sign of the money being deposited from China.

That is hardly a surprise. It has looked inevitable that Suning would default ever since the talks with US fund Oaktree on a new loan broke down.

The Inter owners, to all appearances, do not have the funds necessary to pay back their debt to Oaktree.

However, the wait has gone on for it to become official.

There won’t be much more waiting, however. And there has been yet another clear sign that change is in the air.

According to Sky, Inter’s club directors have left the headquarters for the evening.

CEO Beppe Marotta and the other club directors had been at work as usual today.

But there was no late night for Inter’s directors.

Presumably, had there been any sign of a late development that might see Suning remain as owners, then the directors would still be at the headquarters.

But by all indications, the club directors were dismissed for the day as usual.

Therefore, the countdown is now basically over.

Tomorrow should be the day that Suning cease to be Inter owners.

And on the other hand, Oaktree will take over as the club’s new owners, ushering in a new era at the club. However, there won’t be any abrupt transitions, as the club’s senior management is widely expect to stay.
