Inter Milan are keen on signing a new striker and Rasmus Hojlund is at the very top of their shortlist, as per reports.
Inter suffered an embarrassing 5-0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. The loss could now pave the way for big changes to Simone Inzaghi’s squad.
According to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport (via FCInterNews), the Nerazzurri are prepared to transform their attack that delivered a toothless performance in Munich.
Both Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa are set to depart San Siro as free agents and Inter reportedly plan to fill their void with a relatively big-name attacker.
It is claimed that one of the strikers being considered is Hojlund, who left Serie A for the Premier League in 2023.
The Denmark international, who moved to United from Atalanta in a deal worth around £70 million, has proven to be a disastrous signing for the Red Devils. However, Inter still believe in the 22-year-old’s potential.
It is understood Inter would be ready to spend around €40 million (£33.7m) on a striker capable of providing a solid competition to Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram for a starting spot.
As per the newspaper, Hojlund is the “favourite” option for that role.
The ex-Atalanta sensation impressed with his physicality and pace in Italy but has looked a shadow of himself in England, struggling to adapt to the Premier League’s intensity.
The Dane could prove to be a bargain signing if Inzaghi manages to help him rediscover his confidence in familiar surroundings.
As far as United are concerned, they are determined to part ways with Hojlund.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Ruben Amorim has been left “very surprised” with how poor Hojlund has been for the Mancunians.
