Inter Milan are ready to go head-to-head with Barcelona and “half of Europe” to try and sign Lille striker Jonathan David this summer.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInter1908. They report that the Nerazzurri are serious about trying to sign the Canadian and will be in the race right until the end.
It is no secret that Inter are keeping track of Lille striker David.
The 24-year-old will be one of the big free transfer opportunities of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Inter have made a real habit of signing players at the end of their contracts.
And David would certainly constitute a very high profile piece of business if the Nerazzurri could pull it off.
Inter are far from the only club with an interest in David.
As SportItalia put it, the Canadian’s contract situation has put “half of Europe” on alert.
Spanish giants Barcelona are very keen. And as SI note, David himself would welcome the move to the Camp Nou.
For the former Gent striker, there is a personal feeling for Barcelona, who he’s admitted are the team he had a childhood dream of playing for.
But that certainly does not mean that David will not listen to other offers.
And according to SI, Inter will do everything they can to stay in the race for the Canadian international’s signature.
