Inter Milan definitely will not terminate the contract of forward Joaquin Correa via mutual consent.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that a sale would still be possible, but so would a surprise stay at Inter.

Inter have spent all summer trying to offload Correa.

The 30-year-old has been back since the end of his disastrous loan spell at Marseille last season.

One way or another Correa is not exactly a key figure in Inter’s plans for the season.

As such, the Nerazzurri are certainly listening to offers for the former Lazio and Sevilla forward.

There are reports of some interest in the 30-year-old.

Genoa have been at the centre of the most prominent recent reports. Correa has also been offered to Roma.

There has in fact been some tentative interest all summer.

River Plate are keen on bringing the 29-year-old back to his home country Argentina.

There has been interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. As there has been from the Saudi Pro League.

Then, two of Correa’s former clubs have sounded out a surprise return in the form of Lazio and Sevilla.

And recent rumours have also linked the out-of-favour Inter forward with Monza and Real Betis.

Then, there are also AEK Athens pushing to sign Correa this summer.

Inter Milan Will Not Terminate Contract Of Joaquin Correa

Despite the interest in Correa, there have been no concrete offers.

The Argentine is still amortized for €7 million in Inter’s balance sheet for the final year of his contract. Therefore, the Nerazzurri would hope to recoup at least some of that if they sell him.

And then Correa’s wages of €3.5 million net per season would also be an obstacle.

For this reason, Inter have still found it hard to offload Correa.

That has raised the idea that the Nerazzurri could aim to get rid of the out-of-favour forward once and for all by drastic measures.

Inter could try to agree a termination of the final season of Correa’s contract via mutual consent.

However, the Corriere reports, that is not an option that the Nerazzurri will pursue.

Correa could very well stay at Inter, at least until the January window.

The Nerazzurri would not see it as a particularly fruitful idea to try and get rid of Correa if it means taking a capital loss on his exit and, potentially, paying a severance.

Rather, Correa could remain as an extra option in attack. Inter coach Simone Inzaghi would certainly welcome this, as he feels that four senior strikers is not enough.

However, that would only be the case in Serie A.

One way or another, Inter will not be including Correa in their Champions League squad list.
