Inter defender Milan Skriniar is not likely to be given a hostile reception by the San Siro if he takes to the pitch in Sunday’s Serie A clash with AC Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the intervention of the Curva Nord ultras group is likely to calm the tension surrounding the 27-year-old’s decision to leave at the end of the season.

Inter fans are now widely aware of Skriniar’s intention to leave the Nerazzurri and join Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the current season when his contract expires.

This has naturally introduced a big fracture in the relationship between the player and the fans.

However, the Curva Nord spoke with the Slovakian yesterday, and released a statement saying that they will not withdraw their support for him for the remainder of the decision, in spite of his decision.

The group announced that they will release a statement concerning the player’s reasons for leaving in a fanzine on derby day.

According to Tuttosport, this has gone some way towards conciliating the difficult relationship between Skriniar and the fans, and it is anticipated that the reception he gets from the San Siro will be respectful, rather than the player risking being jeered and booed for his decision.
