Tomas Palacios has thanked Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa for helping him settle at Inter Milan after his Serie A debut.
During his post-match chat with ITV, as reported by FCInterNews, the Argentine youngster refused to hide his excitement after making his first league appearance for the Nerazzurri.
“I am very happy to have made my debut wearing the Inter shirt,” the 21-year-old said.
“I want to thank my teammates, the coach, and the manager for encouraging me from the very first moment here.”
Simone Inzaghi handed the super-talented defender his top-flight debut in the 81st minute.
Palacios, who replaced Stefan de Vrij, admitted the coach’s decision didn’t catch him off guard.
“The truth is that each of us always hopes for this moment,” he stated.
“I have been training, waiting for it to happen, and trying to be ready to make the most of the opportunity.
“The coach told me to seize and enjoy the moment and to try to move the ball quickly.”
Palacios joined Inter from Argentine outfit Independiente Rivadavia in the summer.
Leaving his homeland for a demanding league, such as Serie A, at such a young age was a massive change.
However, Lautaro and Correa have extended their compatriot a warm welcome at Giuseppe Meazza.
“Many of my teammates have helped me from the very first game,” Palacios admitted.
“Right now, I get along better with Lautaro and Tucu because they’re also Argentine, of course.
“But all my teammates have made me feel good from the beginning, and I feel more at home every day.
“I’m very happy. At the moment, my goal is to get minutes on the field.
“I come from a different type of football, as Argentine football is quite different from Italian football.
“It’s a big change for me, but I am committed to taking on this responsibility and learning day by day,” he finished.
