Inter Milan could still make a couple of major signings during the January transfer window.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908.
The January transfer window is now less than two weeks away from opening.
Naturally, for Inter that will mean the opportunity to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.
The Nerazzurri will have key matches across Serie A, the Champions League, and should they prevail against Bologna this evening, the Coppa Italia to face.
That means that Inter’s squad depth will certainly be put to the test.
And according to Sky, as January gets closer and closer, the Nerazzurri are seriously considering making not just one signing, but two to strengthen for the run-in across multiple competitions.
The one position in which it looks very likely that Inter will sign a player next month is on the right flank.
The fact that Juan Cuadrado will require surgery and subsequently miss around three months means that there are just Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian who will be available at right-wingback for a big chunk of the remainder of the campaign.
Considering that Dumfries has fitness issues of his own, and the 34-year-old Darmian is also key depth in defense, that is hardly sufficient for the physically demanding wingback role.
As such, Inter will almost certainly sign a right-sided player.
The Nerazzurri have not fully decided on who they will bring in.
Club Brugge’s Tajon Buchanan is the top target. But Inter’s pursuit of the 24-year-old will be dependent on how willing Brugge are to make a deal.
But whoever ends up arriving, Inter should definitely bring in a player for the right-wingback position.
Then in attack, there is the question of Marko Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez’s less-than-stellar form so far this season.
The Nerazzurri will look for opportunities in the striker positions as well next month, Sky reports.
Attack is not as much of a priority as the right flank, according to the broadcaster. But Inter will aim to make a signing if they feel their is a good opportunity to do so.
