Inter Milan could bring back strikers Sebastiano or Francesco Pio Esposito as attacking options for next season.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They also note that Monza’s Daniel Maldini is another surprise name on the Nerazzurri’s list of attacking targets.
It is all but certain that Inter will sign an attacking player next summer.
The Nerazzurri currently have five options for the two starting roles in attack, including Joaquin Correa.
But Correa is out of contract with Inter at the end of next June, and there’s no doubt he’ll leave. And the same is almost certainly true of Marko Arnautovic.
That will leave Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, and Mehdi Taremi. Inter are already thinking about who they’ll add to supplement that trio.
The highest-profile links have been with Lille striker Jonathan David.
The Canadian would certainly be yet another major free transfer coup if Inter are able to pull it off.
But as Tuttosport note, there are other possibilities for Inter.
A major possibility for Inter could be to bring back a player who came through the youth academy.
Brothers Sebastiano and Francesco Pio Esposito have both been out on loan this season.
And both of the pair present enticing options to bolster Inter’s attacking depth.
In Sebastiano’s case, the 22-year-old is currently on loan at Empoli. The fact that he is finally starting regularly for a team in Serie A is the most significant aspect of his spell in Tuscany.
And Sebastiano Esposito’s form this season suggest that a return to Inter cannot be entirely ruled out.
Meanwhile, teenage striker Francesco Pio Esposito is currently playing in Serie B. He is on loan at Spezia.
This is Pio Esposito’s second season with the Ligurian club.
And if last campaign had seen the 19-year-old take strides into the senior game, this time around he is really kicking on and becoming more prolific in front of goal.
At the end of the season, Inter could decide that Pio Esposito is ready for his chance.
Finally, Tuttosport note, Inter could always make a shock move for former AC Milan forward Daniel Maldini, son of iconic former Rossoneri captain Paolo Maldini.
Maldini has been enjoying his strongest start to a season yet.
And a big benefit of signing the 22-year-old would be that he offers a style of play that no other forwards in Inter’s squad currently do.
