Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will rotate his squad against Young Boys, but not too much with Arsenal also on the way.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
It is certainly getting to the point of the season where Inzaghi has to think about squad rotation.
Inter’s Serie A win over Roma yesterday was the first of seven matches in the space of three weeks.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri cannot afford to have key players starting every single match. Exhaustion would become virtually certain at that point.
Inzaghi has shown plenty of willingness to rotate his team so far this season.
And perhaps nowhere was this more evident than in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven against Red Star Belgrade earlier this month.
Inzaghi trusted many of his “backup” players to get the result in the team’s second Champions League match of the season. And they cruised to a 4-0 win.
That win over Red Star put Inter onto four points in the Champions League.
Along with having gotten a precious point from their away trip to face Manchester City last month, this leaves the Nerazzurri in a pretty strong position.
But that does not mean that three points against Young Boys won’t be hugely important.
Inter’s next three matches after that trip to Bern come against Arsenal, RB Leipzig, and Bayer Leverkusen.
Therefore, the need to get a win against Young Boys is very apparent. Inter cannot afford to fall behind even a little bit.
Young Boys are, on paper, just about the easiest opposition that Inter could ask for.
The Swiss side were swatted aside by Aston Villa and Barcelona in their first two Champions League matches.
But it’s an away match for Inter. And moreover, the artificial turf at the Swiss team’s stadium could also be a wild card.
Accordingly, there will be a balance that Inter coach Inzaghi looks to strike with his team selection.
The Nerazzurri coach will certainly look to rotate, But it can’t be too excessive considering the matches to come.
