Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is not underestimating the Nerazzurri’s Champions League opposition RB Leipzig.

Inzaghi spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, ahead of tomorrow’s match. He also explained his selection decisions for Saturday’s Serie A clash with Hellas Verona.

Inter come up against RB Leipzig in the Champions League tomorrow evening.

And after four matches played in the competition, the two sides could hardly be in more different form.

Inter have done exceptionally well in the Champions League so far this season. They got a hard-fought draw away to Manchester City in their opener, then beat all of Red Star Belgrade, Young Boys, and Arsenal.

Inter have yet to concede a single goal in the Champions League so far in the campaign.

Leipzig, by contrast, are one of six teams who have yet to take a single point in the “league phase” of Europe’s top club competition.

Before the November international break, Leipzig suffered the disappointment of a defeat at the hands of Celtic in the Champions League.

Inter Coach Inzaghi: “RB Leipzig A Great Team, We Respect Them”

Leipzig have been in much better form domestically than they have been in Europe, however.

Marco Rose’s team currently sit in third place in the Bundesliga table. Meanwhile, they have also made it to the round of sixteen of the DFB Pokal.

Leipzig have been a fixture in the Champions League in recent seasons.

And the Bundesliga side can boast quality players all over the pitch who can cause problems for Inter.

Inter coach Inzaghi said that “We’ll have to play a great match tomorrow.”

“Particularly in terms of concentration, keeping compactness between the lines, and technicality,” he said.

The Inter coach warned that “We’re up against a great team.”

“They’ve been in the Champions League for six seasons in a row,” Inzaghi noted. “And in 2020 they reached the semifinal.”

“They’re a team we have to face in the right way. They’ve been second in the Bundesliga table until Saturday, and up until then they had the best defense.”

“We’ll definitely have to play the right kind of match and keep our shape, and know when to pick our moments,” Inzaghi said.

“They’re an opponent we respect.”

And of the match against Verona just a couple days ago in Serie A, Inzaghi admitted that “After scoring five goals in the first half it was easier in the second.”

“The team had a great first half.”

“I tried to favour the players who had remained in training with us over the international break,” the Inter coach noted.

‘The players who returned with just a day and a half to train I decided not to play,” he explained.
