Following an eventful campaign, Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi would like to maintain the same midfield crew while adding one between Davide Frattesi and SMS (Sergej Milinkovic-Savic)

This is according to a report from La Repubblica (via FcInterNews) which claims that the Nerazzurri would only be able to secure the services of only one of the club’s two primary targets in the middle of the park.

Nonetheless, Inzaghi will be looking to confirm his current midfield block. This includes Marcelo Brozovic and Newcastle United transfer target Nicolò Barella.

While the Magpies are reportedly offering 60 million euros for the services of the Euro 2020 winner, the Nerazzurri would only entertain offers that exceed 80 million.

Therefore, Inter will have to pick only one between Frattesi and SMS to bolster their ranks ahead of next season.

At the moment, the Beneamata are reportedly in advanced talks with Sassuolo for the 23-year-old Italian international.

However, the source claims that Inter could face stern competition from other Serie A clubs that are also tracking Frattesi. This includes Napoli and Lazio, in addition to Roma and Juventus who remain in the fray.

But if Inter fail to land Frattesi, then SMS could be the ideal alternative. The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A during his time at Lazio.

The Serbian’s contract with the Biancocelesti will expire in 2024. Therefore, club president Claudio Lotito could be finally willing to lower his hefty price tag to avoid losing his most prized asset for free a year later.
