Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team did a very good job imposing their preferred tempo on Lecce despite the opposition’s physical and organized approach.

Speaking to InterTV following the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 Serie A win over the newly-promoted side, via FCInterNews, the coach praised his side’s performance and also stressed how important it was to get back to winning ways and improve morale.

Inter will have known that, despite the fact that Lecce are only in their first season back in Serie A following promotion from the second division, they are anything but a straightforward team to play against.

The Puglians have proven adept at counteracting the preferred approaches of even the top sides in the league, having gotten draws against AC Milan and runaway leaders Napoli early on in the campaign in addition to forcing the Nerazzurri into needing a last-gasp winner in their first meeting.

“It was an excellent performance, we stayed switched-on for ninety minutes,” Inzaghi said after the match.

“The second goal helped, but even in the first half we always looked solid against an opponent who have caused a lot of teams problems this season,” he continued.

Of the fact that it is now eight consecutive clean sheets at San Siro, Inzaghi said that “Here at San Siro we’re playing well both defensively and in attack.”

“The boys played well tonight, they all helped each other out and I’m satisfied with what I saw from them.”

“We came up against an aggressive team that matched us man to man, we needed a lot of movement and passing triangles and the guys did well to achieve that.”
