Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi feels that the new signings at the club are starting to fit in well in training.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of tomorrow evening’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach also gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s match, and reacted to the Nerazzurri’s Champions League group stage draw.
Inter finished off their summer transfer window with a bang.
The Nerazzurri followed up the much-anticipated arrival of defender Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich with the further signing of midfielder Davy Klaassen from Ajax.
Clearly, there will be big changes to the team this season. Inzaghi is going to have to work to fit twelve new players into his team, with the dust having settled on the transfer window.
But for his part, the coach is happy with what he’s seen from the new arrivals.
Inzaghi gave the view that “The new signings are fitting in well in training.”
“We knew that big changes were needed,” he continued. “We’ve lost some top level players who’d been key for us along our recent journey.”
“However, players of the same quality have arrived,” Inzaghi said.
“Including someone more experienced ones who’ll help the younger players integrate as soon as possible.”
Of the team’s start to the season, Inzaghi said that “We’ve faced it with a lot of determination.”
“I’m sure the guys will show the same determination as ever in tomorrow’s match,” he continued.
“We know we’re coming up against a great side,” Inzaghi continued. “They have a great coach who has them very well-organized, and they have great players.”
“We’ve faced them quite a few times in the last couple years, and we know they’ve always been difficult matches.”
“We’ll have to make sure we get off to the right start.”
Of the importance of the flanks tactically in tomorrow’s match, Inzaghi said that “The wide areas are certainly important to how both we and La Viola play. They’ll see a lot of action in tomorrow’s match.”
“We have to have good coverage of the entire pitch, because Fiorentina have players who are very good.”
And of Inter’s Champions League group stage draw, Inzaghi said that “We’ve been eagerly anticipating the draw.”
“Last season we all remember the kind of draw we got,” he noted. Last season, the Nerazzurri wound up in a “group of death” with Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
“This season we’ve got a very competitive group.”
“We know how good Benfica are, we faced them twice last season,” Inzaghi noted.
“And then Salzburg are a strong team. And Real Sociedad are among the leading teams in La Liga, playing an excellent style of football.”
“We’ll have to make sure we’re ready when the time comes.”
