Inzaghi went with more or less his strongest possible starting eleven yesterday.

There was no sense that the Inter coach was going to rotate his team for the final of the Supercoppa.

That had also been the case in the semifinal against Lazio.

And the decision paid off then. Inter had put in a breathless performance to beat the Biancocelesti by an emphatic 3-0 scoreline.

But against Napoli, it was a bit of a different story.

Whether it was because of a bit of tiredness to some key players, or just a strong defensive performance by the reigning Italian champions, Inter could not play at the same tempo.

And so Inzaghi wound up going to his best.

The freshness that players like Davide Frattesi, Marko Arnautovic, and Alexis Sanchez added seemed to be just what Inter needed.

The Nerazzurri won the match with their final push. And the players who came off the bench certainly made their contribution.

“The substitutes did very well when they came on,” Inzaghi said.

“We switched formation to 4-3-1-2, and everyone helped.”

“Congratulations to them, this is how we win matches and trophies.”

Inzaghi added that “Each match is a story in itself. We’ve also made changes in other matches.”

“Today we didn’t have much energy, and we had to try something different.”

And the Inter coach also noted that “We didn’t concede much, except for that shot that Sommer did very well to save.”

“The guys did very well, but also praise for Napoli,” Inzaghi added.

“They fought like lions with ten men until the 96th minute and It wasn’t easy for us.”
