Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that clinching the Serie A title against AC Milan this season was a “joyous” occasion.

Speaking while accepting an award in Piacenza, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri coach opened up about this past season.

Inzaghi has finally won his first Serie A title as a coach.

The 48-year-old had won a Scudetto as a player, more than two decades ago with Lazio.

And throughout his coaching career, Inzaghi has gotten his hands on plenty of trophies. And he also guided Inter to the Champions League final last season.

But prior to this campaign, the Serie A title had always proven elusive.

This left the sense that Inzaghi had not really fulfilled the promise of his good work at both Lazio and Inter.

But this time around, Inzaghi and the Nerazzurri put it all together.

Inter were the dominant force in Serie A. They built up a sizable advantage for themselves in the Serie A, and then last month clinched the title in historic circumstances – by beating city rivals AC Milan in the derby.

“Everyone was waiting for the second star,” Inzaghi said.

Inter’s title this season is the twentieth in their history, allowing them to put a second star above the club badge on their shirt.

“And we won it, by going on the kind of run that can’t be repeated.”

“We got 48 points in the first half of the season. And now we have 44 in the second, with two matches to go.”

“And then we won the Scudetto against Milan,” Inzaghi noted.

The Inter coach admitted that “We’d been talking about the possibility for a couple months. But a lot of things had to line up just right for it to happen.”

“The crowd that celebrated the title was unique, and sensational,” Inzaghi said.

“For me and for the players, seeing millions of Inter fans happy like that was a huge source of price.”

“For that reason, I would say that it was a joyous league title,” the Inter coach said.
