Inter know what they have to do in the derby against Milan next Monday.

A draw would not be enough to clinch the Serie A title mathematically speaking.

Had Inter beaten Cagliari yesterday evening, then they could have secured the title by drawing with Milan. The Rossoneri had dropped points against Sassuolo earlier in the day.

But the Nerazzurri were only able to respond in kind.

Inzaghi’s team twice took the lead against Cagliari. But on both occasions, the Rossoblu were able to find an equalizer.

That means that things are “as they were” at the top end of the Serie A table.

Inzaghi: Inter Have “First Chance To Make Our Dream Come True” Vs AC Milan

Even if Inter do not clinch the title against Milan, they should be able to do so not long after.

The Nerazzurri will still have several matches in which to seal the deal.

But undoubtedly, doing so against their city rivals would represent something special for Inzaghi, his players, and the fans.

“There’s no need to have any extra motivation,” Inzaghi said it.

“We’ve had plenty since the start of the season on July 13th.”

The Inter coach said that “The guys deserve credit, even in spite of the disappointment of drawing,” in the match against Cagliari.

“We were up against an excellent Cagliari team. We should have brought it home given that we took the lead twice.”

“But I see my team on a great run,” Inzaghi said. “Over the second half of the season, they’ve gotten eleven wins and two draws.”

“I have little to say to the guys.”

“It’s true that we wanted to win,” the Nerazzurri coach added. “But we know that Monday will be the first big chance to make our dream come true.”
