Barcelona captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen has returned to Ciutat Esportiva today, even as his future hangs in the balance, with pre-season set to get underway.

The Blaugrana have made it clear to the 33-year-old that he is no longer the first-choice goalkeeper following the summer arrival of Joan Garcia from RCD Espanyol.

Ter Stegen, however, remains firm on his stance of not wanting to leave. A meeting will take place between him and Hansi Flick in the coming days to clarify the situation.

Inter Milan chief likes Ter Stegen

Recently, there were reports that Inter Milan had shown an interest in Ter Stegen and had made contact over a possible summer transfer. However, they were soon downplayed.

But now, according to journalist Giacomo Iacobellis on Jijantes, Inter Milan chairman and CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, really likes Ter Stegen.

The Nerazzurri will be in the market for a new top-level goalkeeper as first-choice starter Yann Sommer is set to leave, and Josep Martinez is not seen as a No. 1 by the club.

As such, the UEFA Champions League finalists will look for a new shot-stopper, and Marotta is said to be a big admirer of Ter Stegen.

The German goalkeeper has a contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2028, and he has so far shown no indication of considering an exit.

Reports earlier today suggested that Ter Stegen will wait until January before assessing his future. But it will be interesting to see if his stance changes following the meeting with Flick, especially with a top team like Inter Milan interested.
