Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has made Piotr Zielinski, Mehdi Taremi, and Tiago Djalo major free transfer targets for next summer.

SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla, via FCInter1908, confirms the trio as an early cornerstones of the Nerazzurri transfer strategy for next summer.

It is no secret that Inter tend to go after players on expiring contracts with Marotta at the helm.

Moreover, that approach from the veteran executive extends back much further than his time at the Nerazzurri.

For example, Juventus signed players like Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, and Sami Khedira without transfer fees whilst Marotta had been running transfers for the Bianconeri.

At Inter, all of Marcus Thuram, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have arrived on free transfers.

This strategy has proven especially useful in recent years. Inter have had to navigate major financial difficulties and restrictions during the pandemic.

And next summer, Marotta is likely to stick to his usual modus operandi.

Marotta Targeting Zielinski, Taremi & Djalo For Next Summer

One of the key facets that makes Marotta so successful in pursuing free transfer opportunities is how early the Inter CEO tends to move.

That is certainly the case with three big targets for next summer.

Both Lille defender Djalo and Porto striker Taremi are players who had already been on Inter’s radar in the past couple windows.

The Nerazzurri already established contact with the duo’s agents over the past several months.

That did not lead to transfers for fees. But the ongoing contacts have remained. And Marotta is very aware of when a player is nearing the end of their contract.

And with both Djalo and Taremi, Nerazzurri CEO is now ready to pounce.

And with Zielinski, Marotta has taken notice that the Polish international is increasingly unlikely to extend his contract with Napoli.

Therefore, the executive has sensed the opportunity to move. And it is not one which Marotta would ever be likely to pass up.
