Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta: ‘Man City Are A Juggernaut, But We’ll Play For It In UCL Final’ | OneFootball

Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta feels that whilst Man City are a “juggernaut” the Nerazzurri can play for it in this evening’s Champions League final.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri executives gave his thoughts ahead of the match.

Inter are now less than an hour away from kicking off in the biggest match of their season.

The Nerazzurri will come up against a team who are widely regarded as favourites. A quick look at the Cityzens’ form both domestically and in Europe makes clear why.

However, Inter have shown how formidable they can be to reach this final as well.

The Nerazzurri have had to get past teams like Barcelona, Porto, Benfica, and AC Milan.

Perhaps none of the opposition so far has had the quality and intensity that this City do. However, Inter have already shown that they can defy the expectations in Europe’s biggest club competition.

Inter CEO Marotta: Man City A “Juggernaut” But Nerazzurri Can Win

Nerazzurri CEO Marotta said that “We have an excellent relationship with the City directors.”

“I have to say that we’ve made a virtue of necessity,” he said of the Nerazzurri’s financial discrepancy compared to City. “This is thanks to the work of the club directors, who’ve made this squad available to an excellent coach who has years of growth ahead of him.”

“This has brought us to the biggest stage,” he continued. “Here we find ourselves up against a juggernaut.”

“But considering that it’s not always the case in sport that whoever spends the most wins, we want to play for it. We’ll do it with all of our weapons, including the sense that we belong here.”

Marotta noted that “Inter have a great trophy cabinet, with six international finals.”

“Returning to this kind of level has to be the goal of every top club.” he continued.

“Ambition shouldn’t be confused with presumption and arrogance,” the Inter CEO made clear. “But the bar must always be kept high. Doing so is what brought us here.”

Marotta: Fans “Indispensable” To Inter Milan

Marotta also hailed the importance of the Nerazzurri supporters.

“They’re certainly an indispensable component of us,” he said. “A true for every football club, and us in particular.”

“Their passion fills us with pride,” he said of the Inter fans.

“There are many here in Istanbul and also at San Siro,” he added.

“This is a testament to how close the Inter fans are to the team they support.”
