Teenage midfielder Mukau has become an important player for Mechelen.

The Belgian side have had a solid season, finishing in midtable in the Jupiler Pro League table. And the contributions of Mukaku have been a key part of that.

Mukau came through the youth tanks at Mechelen.

The 19-year-old was born in Beglian, and is of Congolese ancestry. He has made youth team appearances for both Belgium and Congo.

Mukau has yet to make a senior international for either team, however. He is still eligible to declare for either senior team.

Despite the fact that Mukau came through the youth academy system at Mechelen, there is a sense that the Belgian side will not be able to keep hold of the young midfielder for much longer.

Mukau’s performances this season have attracted the interest of a number of clubs around Europe.

And according to TMW, there are two teams in Serie A who are particularly keen on the Belgian.

The outlet note that Inter have been observing Mukau’s performances this season.

The Nerazzurri see the 19-year-old as a prospective option for the future.

At the moment, Inter’s midfield has proven options such as Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and the veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri will also be adding Piotr Zielinski to their midfield this summer.

On the other hand, the likes of Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani are younger players with more of an eye to the future.

Mukau could be a player for the longer-term future, on the other hand.

Meanwhile, Bologna have become a team with a real penchant for getting the best out of younger players in recent seasons.

These have included a number of players spotted from smaller European leagues. Omar El Azzouzi, who arrived from Belgian side Union St. Gilloise is among these.
