Inter Milan are annoyed by statements by new Paris Saint-Germain defender Milan Skriniar regarding his contacts with PSG.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
It’s been official for a month now – Skriniar is a Paris Saint-Germain player.
The Slovakian ended a six-year stint at Inter, having joined the Nerazzurri from Sampdoria in 2017.
Skriniar’s time at Inter ended on something of a sour note.
The Nerazzurri had rejected offers from PSG for the player last summer. Then, during last season, they attempted to extend his contract extension.
However, the 28-year-old decided to reject these offers and make the move on a free transfer.
In his final few months as an Inter player, Skriniar barely played. The Slovakian suffered a back injury, for which he received surgery.
The combination of that injury, and failed contract extension talks, shrouded the Slovakian’s exit in controversy.
Yesterday, Skriniar spoke to French newspaper Le Parisien about his move to PSG.
The former Sampdoria defender admitted that he had been in contact with the French champions all throughout the last year.
The implications of this are numerous.
Skriniar had been an Inter player for all of last season. But the Slovakian also had one foot in the French capital, mentally.
The defender had been regularly wearing the captain’s armband for the Nerazzurri, before the club stripped him of it for good once he made his decision to join PSG clear.
Moreover, there is now a sense that talks between Inter and Skriniar in the fall may not have been entirely in good faith.
The Nerazzurri had decided not to sell Skriniar to PSG last summer. They took the route of keeping hold of the defender and trying to extend his contract.
But, as the player revealed, he had been having his own contacts with the Parisians all the while.
The fact that Skriniar has aired this out in very public fashion, the Gazzetta reports, has annoyed Inter.
