Inter Milan have added Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao to their managerial short-list, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
It appears that days are numbered for current boss Simone Inzaghi, who has overseen an erratic Serie A campaign.
Inter have suffered ten league defeats this season, and their lacklustre draw against Salernitana on Friday stretched their winless run to six games across all competitions.
The Nerazzurri have slipped to fifth place in the table, raising questions over Inzaghi’s future.
Inter have begun searching for a new manager as they are planning to bring in a new face for next season.
They would prefer to stick with Inzaghi until the end of the campaign but could be forced to change their stance.
The Nerazzurri are keeping tabs on Conceicao, who is arguably one of the most exciting coaches in Europe.
The 48-year-old is often overlooked as he boasts a winning percentage of 72 in over 300 games for Porto.
Since taking the reins at Porto in 2017, he has led them to three league titles.
Porto have regularly reached the knockout stages of the Champions League under Conceicao, including this season, where they fell short in the round of 16 against Inter.
Despite the disappointing result, Conceicao’s men produced an impressive display in the second leg, and it needed a massive defensive effort from Inter to secure a draw.
Inter could struggle to pay Conceicao’s release clause, with his contract running until 2024 at Porto.
It is a similar story with Inter’s priority target Roberto De Zerbi, who has a hefty release clause at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Antonio Conte and Bologna’s Thiago Motta are the other managers being considered by Inter.
