Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini and his teammates want to win the Coppa Italia this season in addition to their other commitments in other competitions.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of this evening’s clash with Empoli, the 27-year-old emphasized that the Nerazzurri are treating the Coppa as a priority now that they get their campaign in the competition kicked off for the season.

It has been more than a decade since the Nerazzurri have won the Coppa Italia, and the team will be eager to deliver a success in the competition to their fans after having already won the Scudetto and then the Supercoppa Italiana last week.

Gagliardini has been trusted to start in the first match that the team have in the competition, a round of sixteen tie against Empoli, and he is all ready to give his all in a match that will set the tone for the Nerazzurri’s pursuit of the Coppa Italia trophy.

“We face another obstacle today, a tough match,” he said. “It won’t be easy but we want to get to go all the way in this competition, we’ll do everything to get through to the next round.”

On the competition for starting positions in the squad, Gagliardini stated that “I don’t see it as a question of competition, we all want to give the coach a tough choice to make with league matches too, and then it’s his decision to make.”

He emphasized that “The coach manages to make us all feel important, we’re all motivated to give our best when we’re called upon.”
