Radja Nainggolan could complete a move from Inter to join Cagliari as early as tomorrow, according to the print edition of Wednesday’s Gazzetta dello Sport.
The midfielder was left out of Antonio Conte’s matchday squad for tonight’s Serie A fixture against Benevento due to pharyngitis and a mild flu.
But the paper assured Nainggolan’s imminent return to Sardinia was another factor behind the decision to exclude him, with talks between Inter and Cagliari progressing rapidly.
Inter are expected to receive €12 million for the 32-year-old while also signing youngsters Riccardo Ladinetti and Roberto Biancu as part of the deal.
Nainggolan’s desire to rejoin Cagliari, where he scored six goals and provided six assists in 26 appearances on loan last season, is thought to have been crucial to sealing the deal.
He is prepared to spread his wages over a three-year period to help the Rossoblu pay his salary.
Nainggolan joined Inter in the summer of 2018 and has made 37 appearances for the Nerazzurri, including a cameo appearance against Fiorentina last weekend.
