Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella insists that the Nerazzurri still have some way to go before they can consider themselves champions of Serie A this season.

The Italian international returned from suspension to play in this evening’s 1-1 draw against Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, moving Inter nine points clear of AC Milan at the top of the table.

In an interview with Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Barella admitted that the point gained had moved them closer to the Scudetto but warned that it was far from over.

“It’s no secret that the Scudetto is our goal but there are many games remaining, and each positive result is another step closer,” Barella declared.

The former Cagliari midfielder pointed to Inter’s attacking options as being pivotal to their success this season, with Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez starting in Naples and Alexis Sanchez coming off the bench.

“We have certainly found the right balance, we know that our attack of Romelu, Alexis and Lauti can help us bring home the result,” Barella concluded.

Inter look to return to winning ways when they travel to Spezia in Serie A on Wednesday evening, having secured 11 consecutive victories prior to tonight’s draw.
