Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic left Lecce’s stadium on crutches this afternoon, following an injury suffered in the 1-1 draw against the Serie A minnows, according to a report from Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

The report details how the 27-year-old Croatian suffered the injury after a painful clash against midfielder Alessandro Deiola whilst challenging for the ball.

The fact Brozovic left the stadium on crutches suggests the injury may be more serious than initially expected.

Brozovic will undergo medical examinations tomorrow night in order to help Inter fully understand his current physical condition. The player made his 26th appearance across all competitions for the Nerazzurri at the Stadio Via del Mare.

He has appeared in all but one of Inter’s games so far this season, only missing the league clash against Genoa in December due to a yellow card suspension.

He has scored two goals and provided five assists in his 2292 minutes on the pitch.
