Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the Nerazzurri showed their fighting spirit and unity to beat Barcelona in the Champions League yesterday evening.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the Armenian stressed that it was a performance of real team spirit that was needed to get the better of a very difficult match.

Inter’s mentality, concentration, and ability to operate as a tight unit has come into a lot of question in recent weeks as the team have suffered a number of damaging results caused by major lapses.

Against the Blaugranas yesterday, however, there could be few questions or doubts of this nature, as the entire team fought on the pitch to make sure that a clean sheet and victory were preserved.

Now, the Nerazzurri have not just three points and an important foothold in their group, but also a clear answer to any questions about their unity and fighting spirit.

“I’d say that we fought until the end,” Mkhitaryan said. “We’re a united team and we won.”

“This win was needed after all the defeats we’ve had,” he continued, “it was important to win to gain more confidence.”

“Now we hope to raise our heads and win the games we have coming.”
