Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has said that the Nerazzurri showed they are a team in the win over Barcelona on Tuesday night, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with UEFA.com, via FCInternews, Hakan Calhanoglu spoke with pride after the deeply important victory in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri knew that it was a must-win game for them to keep their hopes in the Champions League alive.

Hakan Calhanoglu scored the only goal of the game as he smashed a low shot in from the edge of the box shortly before half time.

He agreed with the interviewer that it was a fantastic night at San Siro and he spoke about the unity with which the team played.

“A fantastic night? Yes, of course. I am really happy, I think it was really important to win against Barcelona because everyone knew our situation and we showed that we are a team.”

He also made sure to thank his teammates for the role that they played in the victory that puts Inter three points ahead of Barcelona.

“I can only say thank you to my teammates because we worked hard against a great European side who play good football.

“It was important to win, we fought until the end and deserved to win.”
