Arturo Vidal believes the Derby d’Italia win over Juventus proves Inter can put up a serious challenge for the Scudetto.

The Nerazzurri hadn’t beaten their bitter rivals since 2016 going into Sunday’s game but produced a dominant performance to take a 2-0 win.

Vidal scored his first goal for Inter as he opened the scoring against his former team before Nicolo Barella added a second after the break.

The Bianconeri struggled to lay a glove on Antonio Conte’s side with Samir Handanovic only called into action late on when he produced a superb reaction save to deny Federico Chiesa.

The result leaves Inter seven points clear of the defending champions, albeit having played a game more, and level on points with city rivals Milan pending their game with Cagliari.

Vidal knows what it takes to win the Scudetto having done it four times with Juve and the Chilean feels his current team have what it takes to go all the way.

He told Sky Sport Italiamoments ago: “It was an important goal, both for me and the team, in a difficult match against the strongest team in Italy.

“I’m really happy, Juve have won the Scudetto for so many years and we’ve shown we’re at the level to fight for the title.

“This victory gives us the confidence to keep working and to believe we can win, right to the end.”
