It's official. Inter Miami has completed the sale of Diego Gomez to Brighton. The ex-player from Libertad will travel to England in January and sign a contract with the Premier League team until June 2029. The English team will pay $14 million, plus $3 million in goals for the Herons.

Gomez arrived at Inter Miami after being bought for 2.7 million from the Libertad U-19 squad. So far, the Paraguayan played 17 games and was part of the starting squad in 15. He scored four goals and delivered six assists.

Is this movement beneficial for Inter Miami?

There are two ways of looking at this transfer. First, let's look at the disadvantages. Diego Gomez is a crucial player in the midfield due to his speed, agility, and awareness on the pitch. He is a valuable asset in Martino's scheme.

Before going to the Olympics, Gomez was part of the starting midfield alongside Lionel Messi. They formed a good partnership and created most of the danger for Inter Miami. Both playing styles are similar. Having them in the field equals danger for the other team.

Gomez is one of Inter Miami's most lethal weapons, not only in attack but also in defense. His recovered balls in the center of the field and his constant pressure on the other team players have helped the squad overcome their defensive shortcomings on multiple occasions.

His positioning in the field makes it easier for the center-backs to come out with the ball. If you watch the games, you know that every ball goes through the 21-year-old player, and from that point, the attack grows. Finding a player like Diego, whose attributes are all around and who can perform consistently in every game, is difficult.

On the other hand, one positive aspect is the transfer fee. It is a good sale from Inter Miami, and this will end with the club searching for more players to reinforce the team.

Another aspect is that players like Cremaschi, Yannick Bright, and David Ruiz will have more playing time to showcase their skills. Cremaschi is already a regular sub, but others could have their chance to rotate and have minutes.
