With the final games of the October international break being played, let’s check up on how things went for Inter Miami’s own.

Diego Gomez was in the starting XI for Paraguay in their at home to Venezuela, starting the game in a deeper role than he is perhaps used to, playing in a double pivot alongside fellow MLS player, Andreas Cubas, of the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Leonardo Campana again started the game on the bench for Ecuador, as they faced Uruguay away from home in their second game of the break. He remained an unused sub was the sides played out a goalless draw.

The GOAT, Lionel Messi, was back in the starting XI for Inter Miami and was up to GOAT things, opening the scoring after 19 minutes. Lautaro Martinez had done well to win the ball back up high, with the ball deflecting into Messi’s path, as he had to composure to run through and drag a smart finish into the near post to make it 1-0 to Argentina.

Three minutes before half time, and Messi would return the favour. Bearing down on goal with pressure from Bolivia defenders, Leo once again showed his unselfishness and high footballing IQ, by having the presence of mind to square the ball by rolling it across to the onrushing Martinez who tapped home from very close range. Team work makes the dream work.

There would be time for one more just before the break, as the king got his second assist of the night, playing a superb ball over the top to Julian Alvarez, who finished to make it 3-0 to La Albiceleste at the half-time break.

After 69 minutes, former MLS opponent, Thiago Almada, scored to make it 4-0. Then, in the 84th and 86th minutes of the game, the greatest notched another two goals to make it a hat-trick – his first since March of 2023. Greatness.

Leo becomes the only player to have 110+ international goals having played fewer than 200 games. Enjoy what little time we have left of him, folks.
