Henrikh Mkhitaryan was asked about potentially joining the local league in a presser in Saudi Arabia ahead of the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final versus Atalanta (via Fantacalcio).

“I follow it, but not too much. A few of my former teammates and friends play here. As far as my future is concerned, I have a contract with Inter. We’ll see what will happen at the end of the season, but I’m happy to be playing with the Nerazzurri.”

Mkhitaryan addressed his competitor Davide Frattesi.

“He’s a great player and teammate, on and off the pitch. I can only advise him to keep going hard. He has the quality to star for a team like Inter. You can see it in training and during matches. He must not quit. He’s on the right track and will have his chances. Then, obviously, it’s up to the coach. But it’s clear that he deserves to play. I think he will help the team in the future.”

Mkhitaryan previewed the match-up and looked back at the previous meeting between the two sides.

“We know that Atalanta are doing very well lately. We’ll try to perform at our best to win. The last match happened four months ago, and a lot of things changed. They have put together a winning streak, and we have prevailed a lot too. I don’t think we were at the top of our game back then. We’re proving to be high level and have reached our standards from last season. It’s our third time in Riyadh, and we’ve been successful in the past two. We hope to repeat.”
