Inter linked Francesco Acerbi is set to renew his contract with Lazio after meeting with president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Igli Tare yesterday, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 32-year-old Italian, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2023, met with Lotito and Tare yesterday, alongside his agent, to discuss a contract extension.

The outcome of the meeting was positive, with the basis for a renewal until 2025 being established. A full agreement hasn’t been reached yet but the path to completion is clear.

Acerbi will receive an annual salary of €2.5 million net, the report continues, with a series of add-ons that could see him earn up to €3 million a season.

The 32-year-old Italian was one of the strongest players in the Lazio squad last season, who qualified for the Champions League for the first time since their last appearance in the 2007/08 season.
