Inter have made Genoa’s Andrea Cambiaso their main target to replace Ivan Perisic on the left in the event that the 33-year-old departs this summer.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri feel confident that between Robin Gosens and Cambiaso they can reinforce their left side for next season.
Perisic’s departure looks increasingly likely as it does not look as though the Nerazzurri will agree a contract extension with him beyond the end of next month.
However, the club are confident that in Gosens they have already secured the ideal long-term replacement.
The German joined during the January transfer window, and while he has not displaced Perisic in the starting eleven given the latter’s outstanding form, the team are confident that he has the quality to hold down the position.
In terms of adding depth to the position, the Nerazzurri’s plan is to resume their pursuit of Cambiaso from Genoa who are all but relegated, as he is young and Italian, with room to grow and relatively low wages.
