Inter are in talks with Atalanta to sign wing-back Robin Gosens before the end of the January transfer window.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the Nerazzurri are working towards bringing the German in as a potential long-term successor to Ivan Perisic on the left.

Inter have been searching for a left-sided backup for Perisic as one of their main priorities during the January window, but they have also been doing so with a view to a player who could potentially replace the Croat long-term.

With Federico Dimarco seen as more of a left-sided defender and Aleksandar Kolarov set for a departure, the Nerazzurri are looking for a natural left wing-back to deputize for the 32-year-old.

Perisic’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June, and should the club be unable to agree on an extension with the Croat long-term, then they could see it as useful to have his successor already in the squad.

Gosens is a player who the Nerazzurri have admired for some time, and his profile is seen as completely suitable to replace Perisic in the long term.

The 27-year-old is currently injured, but his signing this month could be seen as more of a long-term move.

Inter are in talks with Atalanta about a move for Gosens according to Sky, although it remains to be seen what the formula for a possible deal would be, and whether they can convince La Dea on move.
