Inter are currently in a “depression” that sees them unable to win matches even when they play well.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggest that the Nerazzurri are at the stage they were in the start of the 2011-12 and 2016-17 seasons.

Inter did not play a bad match against Roma yesterday evening all things considered, as they had more of the ball and dictated the tempo of proceedings for long stretches.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri mostly kept a dangerous Giallorossi attack at bay for the lion’s share of the match.

However, in the decisive moments the players seemed to crumble under pressure, both allowing Roma to break through when they had their chances, and then looking toothless in the final third at the other end.

For the Gazzetta, this is starting to resemble the Nerazzurri’s starts to the season under prior coaches like Gian Piero Gasperini and Frank de Boer.

Under those coaches, too, the Nerazzurri could control the ball, but there was a lack of mental determination in crucial moments that quickly led the team down a path of “depression” which is what is also being seen now.
