Inter Didn’t Deserve To Lose Against Roma But Small Details Added Up, Italian Media Argue

Inter didn’t necessarily deserve to drop all three points in their Serie A clash with Roma yesterday evening, but the small details all went against them.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, who argue that the match represented the current state of the Nerazzurri where good work isn’t rewarded and every mistake seems to be crucial.

Inter had plenty of possession and initiative against the Giallorossi, and controlled the tempo of the match for long spells.

However, a lack of a real cutting edge in front of goal, as well as a few crucial switch-offs and a poor attempt at a save by captain Samir Handanovic were enough to make sure they went away empty-handed.

For La Repubblica, this was hardly evidence that the Nerazzurri must now rip up the blueprint and start the season again.

However, it was evidence that the team must work harder on making these kinds of details go their way.
