Inter were expected to welcome Mehdi Taremi for his medical tests today but have now decided to postpone the Porto Striker’s arrival.

The 31-year-old Iranian has less than six months left on his contract with the Portuguese club and isn’t interested in penning a new deal, allowing him to sign a pre-contract with his new club, which is set to be the Nerazzurri.

Taremi has agreed to sign a two-year contract with an option for a third worth around €3m net per season plus add-ons, and Inter pencilled in his medicals for this week, keen to finalise his arrival long before the summer.

As detailed by Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter have decided to postpone both Taremi’s flight to Italy and his pre-transfer medicals at the club, delaying things until later in the year. The club’s management want to avoid any possible problems for the striker, who still has four months left to play at Porto.

The Iranian forward is expected to undergo his medicals with the Nerazzurri in secret at some point in the coming months.

Piotr Zielinski underwent his medicals with Inter last month, despite having six months left at Napoli, and the Partenopei responded by taking him off their registered UEFA Champions League squad list.
