Inter wing back Ashley Young has apologised to Inter fans off the back of the defeat to Lazio last night at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 34-year-old defender put the travelling Nerazzurri ahead just before the half time interval as he started and finished a sublime counter attack but his goal was not enough to secure Inter the win.

Ciro Immobile slotted home from the penalty spot soon after the restart to restore parity between the sides and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored 20 minutes from the end of the match to put Lazio ahead with what ultimately proved to be the winning goal.

“Obviously we are sorry to have lost tonight [yesterday], especially in a game that was so important but we have to react immediately and get back to winning ways because there are still many games left and many points to be won,”  he remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset after the game.

The Englishman joined Inter on an initial six month contract during the January transfer window from Premier League side Manchester United and has been one of Inter’s best performers since his arrival. On top of the goal he scored last night, he has also contributed a single assist in his brief time with the club.
