Inter defender Milan Skriniar can still remember the feeling of making his first ever appearance in the Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking in the official matchday program for this evening’s Champions League clash with Barcelona, as reported by FCInter1908, the 27-year-old identified that match as the most emotional memory of any in his career.

Skriniar joined Inter in the summer of 2017 from Sampdoria, and the Slovakian quickly established himself as a key figure in the backline and helped the team back to the Champions League after a number of seasons away.

The reward was a season spent in the Champions League group stage, an experience that made a big impression on the young defender.

Skriniar experienced the feeling of being on the pitch in Europe’s elite club competition, and from his perspective it represented a moment where he knew that he had reached somewhere special in his career in football.

The 27-year-old looked back, recalling that “When I close my eyes, the match I remember with the most emotion is my Champions League debut against Tottenham at the San Siro.”

“When we entered the pitch I felt a wonderful emotion,” he continued.

“Then there’s my he first goal in the competition, the goal I scored against Sheriff,” he continued.

The Slovakian continued that “One of my most important blocks in this competition was the one against Shakhtar in Kiev.”
