Inter Defender Matteo Darmian: “We Want To Move Forward In Every Competition”

Inter defender Matteo Darmian has said that Inter wants to make further progress in every competition this season, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Sport Mediaset, via FCInternews, the former Manchester United defender discussed how important the short break and the January transfer window would be for Inter and now he feels they can move forward and improve.

“We knew that January was important for us and we overcame it in the best possible way. Now with this break we are preparing as best we can for another very important month in which we will have many difficult challenges.

“We want to do our best and move forward in all competitions and we will try, starting from the derby. When we play well we have more fun too, but we can’t always and sometimes we have to be dirtier.”

Inter has a very important match against AC Milan coming up at the beginning of February and if they take all three points they will have taken a huge step towards defending the Scudetto.

“We know that Milan is a very strong team, in the last year and a half they have been doing very well but we are no less and we will certainly prove it. It would be a wonderful thing to be able to win, then if a goal from me comes it would be even better but the important thing is that the team brings home results.”

Matteo Darmian also turned his attention towards the transfers that have been taking place across Serie A this week. On Dusan Vlahovic’s move to Juventus, he said: “He’s a great player, but honestly what other teams do to us doesn’t concern us. We have to think about ourselves.”

Inter has just announced the signing of Robin Gosens from Atalanta and will soon secure the loan deal of Felipe Caicedo from Genoa.

On these deals, he said: “They are important and strong players, they have shown it in recent years. The club certainly knows what they have to do, we only have to think about the pitch. If they arrive, so be it.”
